Welcome to
Thammasat University
Thammasat
University
is
Thailand's
second
oldest
university.
Officially
inaugurated
on
27
June
1934
at
Tha
Phra
Chan
on
the
Rattanakosin
Island
and
the
East-Bank
of
the
Chao
Phraya
River
(opposite
the
Siriraj
Hospital).
The
University’s
founder,
Professor
Dr.
Pridi
Banomyong,
originally
named
Thammasat
the
“University
of
Ethics
and
Politics”,
reflecting
its
primary
mission
to
offer
higher
education
in
the
disciplines
of
law
and
politics
to
the
new
citizenry
and
prepare
Thai
people
for
their
new
democratic
system.
Hoping
to
make
higher
learning
accessible
to
all,
Thammasat
began
as
an
open
university with 7,094 students enrolled in its first academic year.

Vajralongkorn

of

Science

Thammasat
University

Master of Political Science Program in International Relations (MIR)
The
MIR
Program
is
the
first
established
English
Program
of
Thailand
in
1997.
Thai
citizens
and
foreign
students
are
fulfilled
classes
scheduled
on
Saturday
and
Sunday.
Many
alumni
and
current
students
are
working
at
the
Ministry
of
Foreign Affairs, Embassies, Universities, and International Organizations such as ASEAN Secretariat, the United Nations.

Bachelor of Political Science Program in Politics and International Relations (BIR)
In
2009,
the
International
Program
for
full-time
undergraduate
student
is
established
namely
in
the
Combined
Bachelor
and
Master
of
Political
Science
Program
in
Politics
and
International
Relation
(BMIR
Program).
Many
alumni
are
working
at
various
workplaces
such
as
the
Thai
Government,
International
Organization,
International
Companies,
or
business
owner. Graduate students are studying at higher educational institutions in Thailand and overseas.
Nowadays,
the
BMIR
curriculum
design
is
focused
on
a
Bachelor’s
degree
for
four-year
graduation.
The
new
full
name
of
the
degree
is
a
Bachelor
of
Political
Science
Program
in
Politics
and
International
Relations
and
the
abbreviation
name as
“
BIR Program
”
.
