The Faculty of Political Science, Thammasat University has responded to the need of new knowledge by launching its PhD programme in 2003. The main purpose of the programme is to train students who are equipped with analytical skills and capable of conducting comprehensive research on their own. Moreover, the programme also intends to endow its students with the values necessary for a good academic who is eager to pass on the knowledge and ideas for a better and more equal society.
With the continuous development of the programme and experienced teaching staff from various disciplines, the Faculty's PhD programme has been recognised widely in Thailand's academic circle. In the past 10 years, the programme has produced a number of able graduates. The majority go on to work as academics, researchers, and lecturers in various universities.
Course Details
Course structure:
Students need to attend taught classes and produce a thesis at the end of their study.
Teaching date and times:
This is a full-time programme. All classes will be held during normal working hours. Every student is required to complete his or her study within six academic years (12 semesters).
Completion of the programme:
Students have to complete a number of units required by the course curriculum with a minimum GPA of 3.00. In addition, students have to pass a Qualifying Examination in order to be eligible to conduct and present their thesis. As for the thesis, there will be an oral exam by a committee appointed by the Faculty. The thesis has to be published or at the minimum the thesis or a certain part of it has to be accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.

No more than 10 students each year
Fees:
16,800 Baht per semester (1,500 Baht per credit)
